Carol Sadowski

Carol was born in Chicago where she studied art at North Park College and received her degree from Wright College. She was granted a scholarship to the Art Institute of Chicago. She was also awarded a scholarship to the Salmagundi Club of New York and eventually became a member of that organization. Carol attended the Westbury Art Workshop of Long Island and was also a teacher of art at Malverne High School at Malverne, Long Island, New York.

    Her paintings have been or are displayed at the Hemingway Museum in san Francisco de Paula, The Hemingway marina and the Presidential Palace in Havana, Cuba: The Hemingway Home & Museum in Key West, the executive offices of Sun Trust Bank in Miami, Historical Museum of South Florida in Miami, Hollywood Art & Culture center, Museum of Art in Fort Lauderdale, Elliot Museum in Stuart, the Vatican in Rome, the Thomas Center in Gainesville, Museum of Florida History in Tallahassee, Women in the Arts National Museum in Washington, D.C., Hemingway Museum in Oak Park, Illinois: the Petoskey Library in Petoskey, Michigan, Alliance Francaise de Miami, and Wally Findlay Galleries International in Palm Beach and New York.

    Ms. Sadowski has appeared on a number of television programs and her painting of “The Old Men & the Sea” was featured on NBC “Today show direct from Havana, Cuba.

    She had traveled to Cuba in 1985 to do research work on Ernest Hemingway and in 1989 she and her husband photographer Edmund were given a one week stay with all expenses paid by the Cuban government. In 1990 carol and Gregorio Fuentes (The Old Men & The Sea) were guest of honor at the Hemingway Fishing Tournament Awards Dinner in Havana at the Hemingway marina. That same year presented the Hemingway museum at San Francisco de Paula with a painting of a portrait of Ernest Hemingway and she was presented the Hemingway Medal by their government.

    Her commissions include eight paintings for the San Augustin Antiqua Foundation of St. Augustine, Florida; Five paintings for the Bonnet House of Fort Lauderdale and she was commissioned by Bank Atlantic to do a painting of the Joseph Young house the founder of Hollywood, Florida

    Private collections of her paintings are actors Burt Reynolds and James Caan. Philanthropist Harcourt Sylvester of Palm Beach and David Usher, president of the Greenwich Work Shop, one of the publishers of art, and Nadji Jameel, Emir of Bahrain.
